Nitin P. Gambhir is a California licensed attorney with 16+ years of practice experience and at least twice as many half-finished legal pads. Most recently, he was a Partner at the law firm, Hogan Lovells LLP. Previously, he practiced at law firms such as Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe and McDermott Will & Emery, where he sharpened his skills on everything from bet-the-company trials to deciphering partner handwriting. He’s also had the chance to walk in-house hallways during internships and secondments at tech giants like Cisco and Broadcom.
During his legal career, he has been an integral part of multiple successful trial teams, litigating all aspects of Intellectual Property (IP) as well various complex contractual disputes. He’s advised Fortune 500s and early-stage companies on IP strategy, tech transactions, and the occasional “why is this in the contract?” moment. His clients have included leaders in computer networking, telecommunications, memory controllers, medical-imaging, sensor technology, entertainment and internet-related technologies.
He was named to the“Under 40 Hotlist” by Benchmark Litigation in 2017-2018 (he swears he still qualifies spiritually), and Northern California Super Lawyers magazine recognized him as a “Rising Star” from 2013-2018, and as a “Super Lawyer” from 2020 through 2025 — proof that some stars do rise.
He was also recently recognized by his peers as one of The Best Lawyers in America® which while flattering, makes Thanksgiving dinners even more enjoyable when relatives ask for free advice.
Nitin earned his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law and holds both a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering and M.S. in Computer Science from UCLA. If you’re wondering whether he’s a lawyer or an engineer, the answer is yes. (He has no plans to attend medical school, he says). Back when startups weren’t trendy but still cool, he co-founded multiple ventures in the internet-related space. He is also an inventor on several U.S. Patents, which means he occasionally gets excited about obscure technical details.
